Twardzik Announces Funding for Schuylkill County Schools to Upgrade Cafeteria Equipment
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) announced two Schuylkill County schools have been awarded state funding to purchase new food service equipment for their cafeterias, ensuring students have access to nutritious meals in a well-equipped environment.
Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29’s Center for Exceptional Children will receive $8,088 to purchase a pass-through heated cabinet, and Schuylkill Technology Center’s Schuylkill County South Campus will receive $62,484 to purchase a walk-in cooler/freezer. The funding is part of a statewide investment in school nutrition programs.
“Ensuring our schools have the necessary tools to provide healthy meals is essential for student success,” Twardzik said. “These grants will help improve food service operations and enhance the quality of meals for students in Schuylkill County.”
Funding for these grants comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is awarded to schools participating in the National School Lunch Program. Schools use the grants to purchase or upgrade essential kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, freezers and ovens, helping to maintain safe and efficient food service operations.
