HARRISBURG – Dustin’s Adventureland in Branch Township was awarded a $100,000 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant by the Commonwealth Financing Authority for the first all-inclusive playground in Schuylkill County, said Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) and Sen. David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks).

“I am delighted to see that Dustin’s Adventureland will be moving forward with the help of this grant,” said Twardzik. “The first of its kind, all-inclusive special needs playground is being constructed right here in Branch Township. It will offer a welcoming space for children with varying disabilities that may have otherwise been left out. I look forward to seeing the finished product.”

“Supporting people with disabilities is very important to building a strong, healthy community,” said Argall. “This all-inclusive, accessible playground will be the first of its kind in Schuylkill County, and I’m very pleased it was chosen to receive this competitive funding.”

Act 13 of 2012 establishes the Marcellus Legacy Fund and allocates funds to the Commonwealth Financing Authority for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open space, parks and beautification projects using the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP).

GTRP Projects involve development, rehabilitation and improvements to public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails and river conservation.
