Learn How to Avoid Senior Scams

Protecting our seniors from scams and fraud is an important priority, which is why I’m joining Sen. Dave Argall and the Schuylkill Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance (SEAPA) for a Senior Scam Seminar on Monday, Aug. 31, at 1 p.m. at the Frackville Elks, 307 S. Third St., Frackville.

The seminar will feature David P. Shallcross, director of Senior Protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, who will share information on common scams targeting senior citizens and provide tips to help protect yourself and your loved ones.

The event is open to the public.

To register, call Sen. Argall’s office at 570-773-0891.

Damaged License Plate Replacement Event

Do you have a Pennsylvania license plate that has become difficult to read?
I am partnering with Sen. Dave Argall to host a Hard-to-Read License Plate Replacement Event on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4-7 p.m. at Citizens Fire Company No. 1, located at Plane and Otto Streets in Gordon.

A local law enforcement officer will inspect your license plate, determine whether it qualifies for replacement, and complete the required paperwork. There is no fee for this service.

Please bring your vehicle registration card and driver's license.

Call 570-794-4039 to RSVP.

Unclaimed Property Event with PA Treasury

Did you know 1 in 10 Pennsylvanians have unclaimed property waiting to be claimed?

Unclaimed property can include things such as forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payments, utility deposits or the contents of abandoned safe deposit boxes that have been turned over to the state for safekeeping.

To help residents search for property that may belong to them, Sen. Dave Argall and I will host an Unclaimed Property Event with representatives from the Pennsylvania Treasury on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Minersville Public Library.

A representative from the Treasury will be available to assist residents in searching for unclaimed property.

Call 570-794-4039 to RSVP.

The Minersville Public Library is located at 220 South 4th Street, Minersville, PA 17954
