HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) is pleased to announce $768,180 in grant funding has been secured to support local fire companies and emergency medical services (EMS) in the 123rd District.
“As an advocate for the safety and well-being of our communities, I am thrilled to hear about the substantial grant funding awarded to benefit our fire and EMS departments,” said Twardzik. “This funding will significantly bolster our first responders’ capabilities, ensuring they have the necessary resources to continue performing their life-saving services.”
The following Schuylkill County Fire and EMS companies have been awarded funding:
FIRE COMPANIES:
• Ashland: American Hose Company, Washington Fire Company No. 1.
• Cumbola: Good Will Hose Company No. 1.
• Cressona: Cressona Fire Company No. 1, Goodwill Hose Company.
• Frackville: Altamont Fire Company No. 1, Friendship Fire Company No. 1 of Butler Township, Good Will Hose Company No. 1, Good Will Fire Company No. 1, Good Intent Hose Company No. 1.
• Gilberton: Continental Hose Company No. 3.
• Girardville: Girard Hose Company No. 1, Rangers Hose Company.
• Gordon: Citizens Fire Company No. 1.
• Lavelle: Lavelle Volunteer Fire Company.
• Llewellyn: Good Intent Hose Company No. 1.

• Minersville: Good Will Fire Company No. 1, Minersville Fire Rescue, Mountaineer Hose Company, New Minersville Fire Company.

• Pottsville: Citizens Fire Company Palo Alto, Citizens Fire Company, Clover Fire Company, East End Fire Company No. 2, Good Intent Fire Company No. 1, Goodwill Fire Company No. 1, Humane Fire Company No. 1 of Pottsville, Phoenix Fire Company No. 2, Phoenix Hose Company No. 4, Good Intent Fire Company, Yorkville Hose and Fire Company No. 1, West End Hose Company No. 7, South Cass Citizens Fire Company.

• Shenandoah: Heights Fire Company No. 1, William Penn Fire Company No. 1.
• Seltzer: Seltzer Hose Company.
• Summit Station: Summit Station Fire Company.
• New Philadelphia: Good Intent Fire Company, Kaska Volunteer Fire Company.
EMS COMPANIES:
• Ashland: Washington Fire Company Community Ambulance.
• Frackville: Frackville Community Ambulance Association.
• Minersville: Good Will Fire Company No. 1 Ambulance.
• Pottsville: Pottsville Area Emergency Medical Service Inc.
“Our local fire and EMS teams are always in need of volunteers, and I encourage anyone interested to reach out to their local firehouse or my district office to learn more about how they can get involved and make a difference,” added Twardzik.
This funding comes from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, which assists Fire and EMS companies with critical operational needs.
This ongoing program, created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC), supports vital projects such as the construction or renovation of fire or ambulance company facilities, the purchase or repair of equipment, training, and debt reduction.
