Twardzik, Argall Secure $2 Million for Minersville Sewer Upgrade

April 23, 2025

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has awarded $2 million in grant support and a low-interest loan to Minersville Sewer Authority, according to Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-29).

The funding will support the replacement of the authority’s chlorine disinfection system with a modern ultraviolet (UV) system. The upgrade will improve safety and efficiency, with the existing system remaining partially in use during the transition to ensure uninterrupted service.

“This investment is great news for Minersville,” said Twardzik. “Upgrading to ultraviolet disinfection is an important step forward in protecting public health and the environment, while also helping the sewer authority manage costs over the long term.”

“This highly competitive funding will ensure reliable wastewater service for the Minersville area,” said Argall. “Projects like this that keep our infrastructure up to date are key to building strong communities.”

PENNVEST financing is made possible through a combination of federal funding, prior bond issues by the Commonwealth, and revenue from the Marcellus Shale Impact Fee established under Act 13 of 2012.
