June 6, 2025

HARRISBURG – Reps. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill), Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill), Joanne Stehr (R-Northumberland/Schuylkill) and Dane Watro (R-Luzerne/Schuylkill) today announced $33,485 in grant funding has been awarded through the Keystone Historic Preservation Construction Grant program to support important restoration work at the historic Yuengling Mansion in Schuylkill County.

The funding will be used to restore the mansion’s original 1913 wrought iron fence and replace deteriorated copper gutters that have caused water damage to parts of the property. Additional repairs will address damaged woodwork, including restoration of the original carport.

“These restoration efforts will preserve the historic integrity of the Yuengling Mansion and prevent further deterioration,” said Twardzik. “Protecting Schuylkill County’s heritage is important for current and future generations, and I’m proud to support and raise a lager for this investment in one of our region’s most iconic landmarks.”

“Preserving historic landmarks like the Yuengling Mansion is essential to honoring Schuylkill County’s unique heritage,” said Stehr. “This investment will help maintain a symbol of our region’s rich history and ensure it can be appreciated for generations to come.”

“This grant is a big win for the arts in Schuylkill County,” Barton said. “The Yuengling Mansion has become a cultural hub in our county, and restoring it is a welcome and necessary move.”

"The Schuylkill County Council for the Arts uses the Yuengling Mansion as a cultural center and a place to learn about the county’s history and traditions,” said Watro. “This money will help restore and preserve the mansion’s integrity, allowing it to continue its mission as well as serve as the heart of Pottsville’s creative community."

The Yuengling Mansion is a key historic site in the region and these improvements will ensure it remains a treasured landmark.

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, the official history agency of the Commonwealth, administers the Keystone Historic Preservation Construction Grant Program, which supports the rehabilitation, restoration, and preservation of publicly accessible historic resources listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
