The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is off to a slow start this session, much to the disappointment of my fellow Schuylkill County representatives who you sent to Harrisburg to serve. The 2022 gerrymandered district maps, implemented by a faulty process, were praised as fair. They have been shown to be anything but and have shifted majority and produced gridlock – not good government.

State Recreational Improvement Grants Awarded, Says Twardzik

HARRISBURG – State funding has been awarded for two recreational improvement projects in Schuylkill County, according to Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill), who played a role in securing the grants. The funding was made available through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2), which is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

SHENANDOAH – A new effort to demolish blighted buildings on the 100 block of North Brower Street in Shenandoah and build housing for seniors will be awarded $500,000 from the Department of Community and Economic Development, announced Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) and Sen. David Argall (R-29). Preliminary plans for the block aim to build 36 residential units for senior citizens.

Twardzik Bill to Register Vacant Blighted Properties Earns Committee Approval

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Twardzik’s (R-Schuylkill) bill to fight blight was approved by the House Urbans Affairs Committee. House Bill 1791 would create the Vacant Property Registration Act. The measure would allow communities to create and maintain a vacant property registration program, which is a blight fighting, smart growth tool used to stabilize and re-develop neighborhoods.

Schuylkill County Schools Awarded Almost $58,000 in School Safety Grants, Says Twardzik

Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) announced that Schuylkill Technology Center and Shenandoah Valley School District were awarded short of $58,000 in school safety grants administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's (PDE) Office for Safe Schools.
